The purpose of our organisation is to help people of all ages and abilities to learn how to use technology to help reduce rural and social isolation, improve mental health & wellbeing, and to help lift people out of poverty by building confidence and improving digital skills. We provide community support in locations across The Stewartry and from our hub in the community centre in Castle Douglas. We help people improve their confidence and skills to access public services online, apply for benefits, set up and maintain their Universal Credit accounts, search and apply for jobs online, create a C.V, use email and video conferencing apps and programmes. We help those who want to learn new skills. We help people to set up and attend virtual NHS appointments. People can learn how to connect with friends and family using various platforms such as what’s app, zoom etc. They can learn new skills allowing them to remain independent, such as shopping online, searching for information etc. We provide weekly 1-2-1 appointments and we also offer help by telephone or remotely for those who don’t wish or are unable, to engage face to face. Through schemes like SCVO Connecting Scotland Fund we provide devices and connectivity to those who need them. We also refurbish devices which have been donated to us to give to those in need.
