Have your say in the Code of Fundraising Practice consultation

The Fundraising Regulator for England and Wales has suggested changes to the Code of Fundraising Practice and is holding a consultation to get your feedback. The suggested changes are based on recommendations made by the former standards adjudicator, the Fundraising Standards Board (FRSB), as well as emerging issues from public complaints and fundraisers' queries, and the wider legal context. The consultation covers a range of important issues including the fundraising ask, whistleblowing, people in vulnerable circumstances and third parties. Fundraising is the lifeblood of many charitable organisations in Scotland and we all know the importance of getting it right. Public trust is vital for the sustainability of our sector. The Code of Fundraising Practice is the backbone of our fundraising work, so it’s important that it is fit-for-purpose and responsive to our sector. I therefore urge your organisation to respond to the consultation. In order to help, a series of events have been organised through the Independent Fundraising Standards & Adjudication Panel for Scotland in collaboration with SCVO, the Institute of Fundraising and the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR). We would be delighted if you could attend to share your expertise, experience and opinions. A representative from the Fundraising Regulator will be in attendce to give an overview of the consultation and answer any burning questions you may have. This is a great opportunity to find out more and inform your response. Four events will be held in the following areas:
  • Inverness on Monday 20th March at 12:30pm
  • Dundee on Friday 24th March at 12:30pm
  • Edinburgh on Wednesday 29th March at 1pm
  • Glasgow on Friday 31st March at 3pm
Numbers are limited, so make sure you sign up to secure your place by clicking on the handy links above! It’s important that the Scottish charitable sector and fundraisers working in Scotland have their say on these changes. This is a great opportunity to share your views and find out more about the consultation.
