Aims & objectives

Mission statement: "Parent Action for Safe Play will improve the quality of life in the Kirkshaws area, by delivering an integrated, inclusive and accessible range of sports, leisure, childcare, play and community services" Objectives: to improve the quality of life of children, young people and families by delivering free and low cost leisure opportunities; improve health and increase confidence; reduce anti-social behaviour, and increase community safety. To involve children and young people in phsically active pursuits. To provide workers to programme activities and deliver services.

Job description

Maintenance of garden including ordering of seeds etc.

Planting flowers, vegetables, trim shrubs and trees and water feed, transplant and harvest.

Sale of crops under supervision of Community Gardener.

Assist with the delivery of gardening sessions to groups

Abiding by Health & Safety and Environmental Health rules and regulations.

To carry out any other reasonable duties as may be required by the management committee.

Person specification

Experience of general gardening duties.

Knowledge of fertilizer and chemicals

Good communication skills with children and adults

Good self-management and the ability to work using own initiative.

Have a love of the outdoors

Flexible approach to working hours

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate well to children and adults.

Additional information

Heavy lifting and ground work involved.
