Aims & objectives

Since its establishment in 1995 Aberdeen Foyer, a local charitable organisation, has been working successfully with homeless and disadvantaged 16-25 year olds in the Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire areas. The Foyer initiative aims to address the priority issues of youth unemployment and homelessness in an integrated way to help young people achieve social and economic independence.

Job description


* Assist with the promotion of Foyer REACH, a 14 week employability course based on community involvement, personal development, wellbeing and employability learning for anyone in recovery from anything that has held them back e.g. substance misuse, mental illness, physical illness

* Support recruitment of participants through liaison with Foyer Teams and partners including training managers, Jobcentre Plus, Skills Development Scotland, employers, voluntary sector agencies etc. as appropriate

* Work with a range of participants including those who demonstrate challenging behaviour and those experiencing issues such as homelessness, literacy and numeracy problems and in recovery

* Assist the Programme Leader in developing and implementing suitable activities and identifying community resources for the programmes

* Assist the Programme Leader in planning and preparing group sessions including preparation of materials

* Assist in the completion of associated paperwork

* Assist in the sourcing of work experience/placement

* Provide a positive role model for participants

* Undertake other duties as required

Located within NESCOL's Learning Centre in Ellon you will work alongside the Reach Developmnet Coach and participants taking part in a 12 week programme
