Job description

The support cafe assistant will be expected to:

- Assist in daily running of cafes

- Recruit and support volunteers to help in running of cafes

- Assist in training volunteers and organising rota

- Ensure compliance with food hygiene regulations

- Order stock, shop for food and undertake regular stock-taking

- Help cook and serve food and help cleaning premises afterwards

- Cash handling

- Work in partnership with other services and agencies who may be attending

- Provide a friendly, respectful and non-judgemental service to members of the public attending the cafe, including those with specific needs and issues such as substance misuse

- Help evaluate project by gathering feedback from volunteers and service users

- Help to market and promote the cafes

Person specification

The support cafe assistant should be able to:

- Engage, motivate and inspire volunteers to participate

- Show a genuine interest in food and people

- Have good organisational skills

- Demonstrate awareness of food hygiene and safety

- Have good communication skills

- Ability to travel to different locations daily

- Able to liaise with existing and new organisations attending the cafe
