Aims & objectives

Deaf Connections was founded in 1822. Formerly the Glasgow and West of Scotland Society for the Deaf, the organisation changed its name in 1998. The charity provides a range of services for Deaf and hard of hearing people and their families. It aims to increase the overall awareness of issues facing Deaf people. As well as advice and information, Deaf Connections offers: interpreting services; sports and social clubs; youth services, community development and runs British Sign Language classes.

Job description

Duties include:

* taking telephone calls/emails and

* processing requests for interpreters.

* organising appointments between clients and interpreters

* office admin and general reception duties

Person specification


• Excellent communication skills

• Polite, friendly and confident personality

• Sensitive and patient to the needs of people using the building

• Smart appearance

• Basic IT skills

• Good organisational skills

• Ability to use office equipment such as photocopiers

• An interest in working in the Charity sector

There will also be the opportunity to learn BSL
