Job description

General office duties including report writing, database management, photocopying, diary management, filing and mailing etc

Inputting data to the Home-Start monitoring and evaluation online system, as directed by the Scheme Manager and Administrator

Providing support to assist in the recruitment and ongoing support of volunteers, including and through social media channels and quarterly newsletter

Research small grants and trusts in the UK; submitting requests for financial support

Working with all other members of the team to ensure good safeguarding practice in all aspects of the scheme’s work

Assisting with hospitality for visitors to the office

Assisting the co-ordinators to maintain efficient, accurate and confidential records, including statistics collection and collation.

Supporting events and meetings as required

Administering petty cash and the payment of volunteers expenses

Maintaining supplies of stationery and office sundries

Complying with all Home-Start policies and procedures

The post holder may be required to undertake any other duties that fall within the nature of the role and responsibilities of the post as detailed above.

Person specification

Essential –


Excellent IT skills, including typing and word processing

Proficient at using Microsoft Office suite

High standards of practice and presentation at work

Effective communication skills: written, verbal and telephone

Personal attributes:

An interest in the needs of young children and families

Ability to work as a member of a team

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Ability to work on own initiative

Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a wide variety of people

Special Requirements:

Eligible to work in the UK

Willing to access training


Good standard of education

Relevant secretarial/IT training

Relevant previous employment

Experience of working in a small team

Experience of working within a voluntary organisation

Experience of working with volunteers

Knowledge and experience of petty cash

PVG/disclosure requirements

Required - Cannot start until successful Disclosure/PVG scheme membership is received
