Digital Leaders Scotland

For the past couple of years I’ve attended and shared information about a wide range of sessions run by Digital Leaders in Scotland. These events – salons – have covered a variety of topics.  Some have struck me as being absolutely core to my job, the one on Digital Participation for example I couldn't really have missed.  Others have, on the face of it, seemed a bit more of a luxury to attend – Agile Development in organisations or Prisons and Technology to name just two.  Still I went and Digital Leaders started to become a pretty permanent feature in my diary. It became one of those events which I’d move other things around for, one I’d really think about travelling for; an event I was encouraging colleagues to attend. Why? What was it that held my attention? Once I’d sat down with a cuppa it didn’t take me long to come up with the following reasons: I’ve come back from every salon with new learning, new contacts, fresh insights and having had an opportunity to pitch at least one third sector perspective. It’s also meant that I’ve been invited to speak at a range of events which I’d not otherwise have had access to, sharing third sector stories more widely. A couple of weeks ago I was delighted to be invited to be part of the steering group for Digital Leaders in Scotland.  Now I get to influence the topics that are discussed, put forward speakers and can really get stuck in to encouraging more third sector folk to attend. The next event on 5th May is about cryptocurrencies: I’m not sure what implications there are here for the third sector – do you?  Come along, join me and find out!
