Finding young people jobs in Scotland

It’s an exciting (and busy!) time for the CJS team. After six successful phases which have created 7,670 jobs, we're now into Phase 7 of Community Jobs Scotland, with the aim of creating and filling another 700 third sector jobs for unemployed, vulnerable young people by the end of March 2018. This week, we launched our #CJSemployer campaign to help encourage employers across Scotland’s third sector to get involved and take on a CJS employee. CJS employees are unemployed people aged 16-29 who are either care experienced, carers themselves, have previous convictions, are early armed forces service leavers, or have disabilities/health issues – all things that can result in barriers to employment. By finding these young people jobs in the sector we boost their confidence, teach them new skills and benefit their local communities. While we always have lots of useful information available on our website and social feeds for those looking to find out more about CJS, it’s difficult to really show how rewarding – and often, life-changing - these jobs can be for those involved. That’s why we’ve been out and about the central belt, from Irvine to Cowdenbeath, meeting and interviewing current CJS employers, employees and former employees, to show people exactly what the process is like. Now you can meet them too - just take a look at SCVO’s YouTube channel!
