What does digital participation look like in 2014?

In a nutshell we have two main aims: helping third sector organisations make best use of the internet, and through them and other sectors, helping the 1.3 million folk across Scotland not using the internet get online. So what are we up to? Four things really. Four big things!
    • Connecting
    • Communicating
    • Co-ordinating
    • And securing as much resource into Scotland to help in our task
One of our main aims is to help the 1.3 million folk across Scotland not using the internet get online.
Connecting. Following on from our successful launch in November we will be bringing a wide range of people together at The Gathering in February - come along, we'd love to meet you. Communicating. We'll be spreading the word of what's working well in encouraging people to use the internet. So you'll see us out and about across Scotland, meeting, talking and listening and of course sharing via our website. Please share your stories with us. And I guess the last two fit pretty well together. Co-ordinating and securing as much resource into Scotland to help in our task. We're a tiny team and we can't do this alone. There's already lots of activity going on so we're working to bring together all the activity out there and embed the third sector at the heart of sustainable support to bring people online. We're starting the year with a range of partners to secure funding from the Big Lottery Fund's Basic Online Skills programme. Hot on the heels of that is the opportunity presented by the UK Government's Assisted Digital programme, and supporting Scotland’s Digital Participation Charter. And this is just the tip of the iceberg, so we're looking forward to a busy and challenging year ahead!
