Abstract

The Community Life Survey is held to track trends and developments across key areas that encourage social action and empower communities. Key Findings - Rates of volunteering in 2012-13 have increased significantly compared with 2010-11: from 39% to 44% for annual formal volunteering and from 55% to 62% for annual informal volunteering. - Over a third of people give time on a regular basis to help out neighbours and individuals on an informal basis. - Those who only volunteer informally differ in profile from those who only volunteer formally: they are more likely to be female, younger, with lower qualifications and living in less affluent areas.
