This report explores the history of ?community and mutual ownership? and draws out five historic models of ownership which are examined in turn. The concept of community and mutual ownership is used as an eclectic and exploratory device to uncover a range of different material over previous millennia. The report represents a literature review complemented by interviews and some documentary and archival research. It is organised into three substantive chapters: a historical overview (Chapter 2); models of community and mutual ownership (Chapter 3); and conclusions and implications for policy and practice (Chapter 4).
