Need to train people but not sure where to start?Whether it is a big part of your role or just a small bit of it, this interactive and practical online course will providea sound introduction to how people learn and how to train them.
This 3-part online course is designed to equip you with new techniques and the skills toplan, deliver and evaluate effective training.
Part 1- 24 November, 1pm - 4pm
Part 2- 25 November, 1pm - 4pm
Part 3- 1 December, 1pm - 4pm
Through individual tasks and group work you will gain the skills and confidence todeliver engaging, learner-focused trainingwith variety and flair.
- Overall course aim
The aim of this online course is to provide an introduction to training and learning. You will learn how people learn and discover how to make the messages you want to get across stick through creating the right structure and environment for your participants. This interactive online course is designed to help you design and deliver learning to small groups.
- Course objectives
Duncan Wallacewill guide you through the 3 sessions so you will have the skills to train individuals and deal with the dynamics of group learning. You will have access to theLearnDashplatform and by the end of the courseyou will feel both competent and confident in your training skills. It will allow you to:
Identify how individuals learn:
- Learning cycle;
- Learning Styles;
- Methods of identifying learning needs.
Plan what you are going to teach:
- Aims and objective writing;
- Using resources effectively;
- Available training methods.
Prepare an effective learning environment:
- Preparation checklist;
- Group dynamics – dealing with difficult participants and difficult situations.
Design a piece of learning to suit the learners:
- To suit different learning styles.
Compare methods of evaluating learning:
- The evaluation quintet;
- Styles of evaluation;
- Review methods.
- Who is the course aimed at?
This interactive online course is suitable for anyone new to training, individuals who have had no previous formal training or if you are a trainer and wish to consolidate your training skills. Over the 3 sessions you will work on individual tasks and in small groups. The learning on this course will be enhanced if you have a specific piece of training you are going to deliver a few weeks or so after the course.

There are no formal entry requirements.

Course structure: 3x 3-hour sessions, with plenty of opportunities for questions, discussion and exercises.
Pre-course prep: learning styles questionnaire, which participants are asked to do in advance.
