CPAG in Scotland
Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG) in Scotland works for the one-in-four children in Scotland growing up in poverty. It doesn’t have to be like this. We use our understanding of what causes poverty and the impact it has on children’s lives to campaign for policies that will prevent and solve poverty – for good.
Poverty isn’t inevitable. It is caused by low wages, inadequate benefits, expensive housing and childcare and a lack of decently paid jobs. Drawing on CPAG’s 50 years of experience and expertise, we devise and promote solutions we know will achieve a better life for low income families.
We also provide trusted and expert information, training and advice to people who work with families to help them access the financial support they need. Through our advice line we offer free, independent and authoritative information to frontline advisers and support staff in Scotland on all aspects of the benefits and tax credits system.
Through our Early Warning System, we also collect and analyse case evidence about how welfare changes are affecting the wellbeing of children, their families and the communities and services that support them.
