Glasgow North West Foodbank – Trussell Trust
Glasgow NW Foodbank is facilitated by Blawarthill Parish Church of Scotland. It was launched in May 2013 and is part of the Trussell Trust Foodbank Network.
The main warehouse and distribution centre is located at Blawarthill Church; there are two other foodbank centres – one at Ruchill Parish Church and the second at Gairbraid Parish Church.
The foodbank provides 3 day emergency food parcels to people referred to us by any of over 120 referring agencies. In addition we have volunteers who are trained to give 1:1 support and advice to clients who have specific needs.
In 2018 the foodbank supported 1285 households, equating to 2585 individuals. We distributed over 9.5,000 3 day food parcels to people in crisis.
There has been a significant increase in the number of people accessing support from the foodbank since the roll out of Universal Credit. Without the generous support of donors and volunteers we could not achieve our aim to alleviate food poverty, with dignity and choice, for individuals and families in crisis.
