BBC Children in Need
Children in Need’s vision is that every child in the UK has a childhood which is safe, happy, secure and allows them the chance to reach their potential.
Our role in achieving this vision is by making grants to charities and other non-profit organisations that support and work with children and young people who are disadvantaged and face challenges in their lives. We are local to people in all corners of the UK and support small and large organisations which empower children and extend their life choices.
We are currently supporting over 3,000 local charities and projects in communities across the UK. In Scotland we fund more than 300 projects working with over 64,000 children and young people. The projects we fund help children facing a range of disadvantages for example poverty and deprivation; children who have been the victims of abuse or neglect or disabled young people.
Our Emergency Essentials programme supports individual children and young people providing items that meet their most basic needs such as a bed to sleep in, a cooker to give them a hot meal, clothing (in a crisis) and other items and services that are critical to their wellbeing.
