Equality and Human Rights Commission
The Equality and Human Rights Commission is Great Britain’s national equality body and has been awarded an ‘A’ status as a National Human Rights Institution (NHRI) by the United Nations.
Its job is to help make Britain fairer, by safeguarding and enforcing the equality and human rights laws.
In Scotland, the Commission uses its unique powers to challenge discrimination, promote equality of opportunity and protect human rights, and works with others to overcome the barriers to compliance with the law and to uphold rights. It influences government and parliament, and provides organisations with information, advice and education to strengthen and enhance equality and human rights protections.
