Aims & objectivesBirchwood Highland was established over 25 years ago as a charity working with people with mental ill-health. Through our mission statement we aim to increase a person’s capacity to live independently and feel part of the community, thus reducing feelings of isolation. We support people to build self-confidence and adopt lifestyles that improve their health and well-being. We operate in the Inverness, Easter Ross and Lochaber areas.

To provide a welcoming and professional 'meet and greet' reception service, ensuring that the needs
of those phoning through to the Recovery Centre and those attending meetings or
visiting the Recovery Centre are dealt with appropriately, timeously and
professionally. Ensuring that where appropriate that there are follow-up systems in
place when messages are left for staff.
To deal with incoming and outgoing mail, as appropriate.
To work with the Team Administrator to take responsibility for all equipment and facilities within the administration office,
taking the appropriate action where necessary to ensure the full functioning of all
the equipment, including reporting faults etc.
To ensure that all records and paperwork held within the reception area are held in
accordance with the Data Protection Act and that confidentiality requirements are
observed at all times.
To provide administrative and secretarial support to the Service
Manager of the Recovery Centre and the Team Managers, Team Leaders and
Facilities Manager as required. To undertake all general administrative duties for the
Recovery Centre as a whole as determined between the postholder, Service
Manager and Line Manager.
To ensure that staff have access to, and are aware of incoming communications, that
notice boards are kept up to date and that information is displayed prominently and
in a presentable format on both staff and service user notice boards.
To be responsible for the ordering of stationery for the Recovery Centre following
financial governance protocols at all times.
Update the Management Information System where necessary, ensuring data protection
and confidentiality policies are adhered to at all times.
- Previous secretarial/administrative
experience, preferably in the public or
- Good organisational and time
- Ability to work proactively and on own
initiative and to see a piece of work
through from start to finish, with
attention to detail.
- Computer literate, basics to include
Word, Excel, Power Point, MS office etc.
Desktop publishing experience is
desirable. Otherwise, willingness to learn
- Ability to work flexibly and to workload
- Commitment to developing within the
role and keenness to participate in
appropriate training opportunities.
- Commitment to working within the ethos
of Birchwood Highland.
- Full UK driving licence desirable
Required - Cannot start until successful Disclosure/PVG scheme membership is received
