Utheo seeks "to bring together the people of Orbiston in a bid to help combat the injustice of poverty, isolation and intolerance, irrespective of age, ability, race, religious persuasion or none. Our ethos has a spiritual core and our desire is to ease the burden of many and enrich their lives. " Activities are providing a range of facilities for the people of Orbiston in a bid to help combat the injustices of poverty, isolation and intolerance, in particular managing Orbiston Neighbourhood Centre, a multi-purpose resource in the Bellshill area.

Job description

To ensure the pursuance of the aims and objectives of Orbiston Neighbourhood Centre, in relation to Before School Care and After School Care.

To work as a team member with staff and volunteers, promoting a safe, stimulating and educational environment for children consistent with the policies of care and practice of Orbiston Neighbourhood Centre and all relevant childcare regulations.

To escort children to and from school.

To actively participate in providing a safe, hygienic, educational, friendly and stimulating environment for the children.

To assist in serving of snacks.

To attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.

To assist at outings where necessary.

To work with due regard for health and safety and equal opportunities.

To advise management in building and maintenance requirements and to assist in keeping premises and equipment to the required standard and in a clean and tidy environment.

Person specification

Flexible, approachable and readily adapt to change.

Willingness to work outside normal working hours i.e. evenings and occasional weekend work if required.

A self motivated individual - must be able to work on own initiative and as part of a team and must be prepared to promote positive lifestyle choices to local people.

Will have a commitment to equal opportunities in principle and in practice

Excellent communication skills.

A proven aptitude for working with children and young people.

Qualification would be desirable but not essential.

The ability to effectively communicate and deal with people with varying abilities is essential.
