Aims & objectives

The aim of West Dunbartonshire Community Foodshare is to tackle food and financial poverty and disadvantage amongst the most vulnerable groups, including disabled, elderly people and families with young children. This is done by providing a central location for the Foodshare service to operate, through a co-ordination of referrals, deliveries, donations and distribution. We ensure that those in receipt of food parcels are given every opportunity to address the medium to longer term issues in relation to their difficulties. Foodshare has become one of the first point of contact for people in crisis and we are a key part of a holistic approach to financial and social deprivation. In addition, we will recruit, develop, and train volunteers (including service users) to assist in the process. We will continue to liaise with partner agencies, including the public and private sector and will continue to develop the necessary infrastructure for sustainable service provision.
