Abstract

A joint report from Engender, Scottish Refugee Council, Scottish Women?s Aid, Close the Gap, and Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations, refreshing a previous joint report on women and social security. Since 2010, œ26 billion worth of cuts have been made to benefits, tax credits, pay and pensions. 85% of this has been taken from women?s incomes. The report looks at - Why women are affected more by the cuts - Women and paid work - Women and unpaid work - Domestic abuse - Multiple discrimination, including disabled and refugee women - Devolution of welfare - Scottish Governments role and actions to date The report concludes with a number of recommendations.
