Learning through Lockdown – the impact of youth work summer 2020. (October 2020)

The youth work sector has continued to engage and support children and young people throughout the coronavirus pandemic. This has included providing crisis support for the most vulnerable families and mitigating the impact of COVID-19 on children and young people’s mental health, learning and development.

From 13 July, the sector was able to begin a gradual, phased renewal of face-to-face youth work outdoors. Learning through Lockdown – the impact of youth work summer 2020 captures the breadth and depth of opportunities provided by the youth work sector during this most extraordinary of schools summer holidays.

The examples contained within the report illustrate how youth workers met the needs of children and young people, with a particular focus on the impact on closing the poverty-related attainment gap.
