ReTweed is an award-winning social enterprise based in Eyemouth. The primary aims are to address isolation and tackle women’s social and economic inequality. ReTweed provides craft, design and technology training, practical skills development, promotes community participation; bringing the community together around a positive environmental focus via the medium of upcycling textiles.
ReTweed provides 12-week training courses aligned to NVQ Level 4 Fashion & Textiles and produces unique artisan clothes, furnishings and crafts through the medium of innovative textiles upcycling. All products manufactured by the Students are sold to secure a trading income for the company.
As well as the core training activity, ReTweed also delivers aspirational volunteering employability and enterprise development in fashion and textile and a range of commercial workshops and community events which showcase the amazing innovation in upcycling.
The environmental focus of our social enterprise is to divert waste textiles from landfill and transform culture to embrace the creative and economic potential of reducing, repairing, reusing and recycling as part of everyday life.
ReTweed also aims to continue transferring their training and business model in other areas of Scotland.
