The Scottish Government is the devolved government for Scotland and has a range of responsibilities that include: the economy, education, health, justice, rural affairs, housing, environment, equal opportunities, consumer advocacy and advice, transport and taxation.
The Scottish Government continues to believe that staying in the EU is the best option for Scotland and the whole of the UK and continues to make the case for this. In the present circumstances, our preferred option is to back another referendum which includes the choice to remain in the EU.
We have also been prepared to discuss possible compromises, and were the first administration in the UK to set out a substantive policy response in December 2016. As a responsible government, we are collaborating with our partner organisations in investing in intensive preparations for all exit possibilities.
